Silk Roads - the Routes Network of Chang’an - Tianshan Corridor was added to Kazakhstan’s list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2014. This World Heritage Site is comprised of a 5,000 km portion of the ancient Silk Road as well as historical sites that fall along the route that stretches through China, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Kazakh historical sites that fall within the span of the corridor include the site of Kayalyk, Karamergen, Talgar, Aktobe, Kulan, Akyrtas, Ornek, and Kostobe - all of which can be found in the Zhetysu Region of the Ili and Talas Valleys.
